No digital tuning, despite the description. A major issue for me is that you can only use cd and buzzer for alarm 1 and radio or nature sounds for alarm 2. Doesn’t seem like a huge deal, unless you want two buzzers in the morning, or buzzer and cd. Will only wake to track 1 when cd is set. Auto-timeset and digital timing are available on the smaller model, but that one doesn’t have the cd player (and maybe not the nature sounds but not sure about that.) Nice appearance and design, otherwise. I can’t recommend this though, because there are better options without these particular quirky design flaws.

I read all the reviews on this alarm clock BEFORE I purchased it because I have been burned before, this clock won’t let you down ! As another reviewer mentioned the dimmer settings are what sold them, I will admit it sold me too. I hated being blinded by all those alarm clocks! This has 3 levels of brightness or you can completely shut off the light. AWESOME!! I love the nature sounds that come with it, can be listened to while falling aleep ( even can set for 60,30 or 15 mins) or for an alarm. Has a CD player and can hook up to your MP3 . What is not to love? The sound isnt Bose but, hey the price isnt either..I am very satisfied and highly recommend !!

This is my 3rd Singer in 40 years. My first machine made countless dresses, pants, prom dresses, and upholstered a lot of furniture. My second machine was not heavy duty enough for what I do now. I make flannel blankets for Project Linus and average 3-5 blankets a week. The Singer 7470 is perfect! I have tried out all the features, which work perfectly. The instruction book is easy to follow. I love the numerous stitches that can be accessed with just a push of a button and that to get back to straight sewing, you just turn off the machine and when you turn it back on - straight sewing again. Also the price and service at Amazon were great as always!

I have not sewed for a long time and consider myself an advanced beginner. I wanted to get back into sewing without spending a lot, yet I did not want just a basic machine. I found what I wanted with the 7470. It has a lot of cute decorative stitches and a couple built in alphabets in addition to the usual utility stitches. It comes with all the basic feet, a soft plastic cover, nicely done instruction manual, and all the other extras like needles and bobbins. So far I have made some nice home dec type of things and hope to start a garmet next. The 7470 is very smooth running and sews nicely. The menus are very easy to use. It has a mirror image, repeat inifinity stitch and can handle double needles. The sewing area is wide and sturdy. The machine threads easily, the bobbin is drop in, and the needle threader really works!! So far I am very pleased and think I did good getting this one!

This takes amazing photos for someone not skilled at taking photos. It’s compact, easy to use, easy to navigate without reading the directions. I carry it with me always now and have been able to capture some amazing things from a great distance without even getting out of the car. I love it! So much better than cameras intended for this kind of purpose that I’ve owned in the past.

This machine is so very easy to use and works great. I had a bad experience with a Singer Simple recently and had to return it to the store because it just would not work. Customer Review: Everything I needed…
I consider myself a professional seamstress but the only machines I regularly used were Singers - one antique featherweight, and an older industrial machine. I didn’t have access to fancy stitches before, but the garmets I was constructing were not stretchy so the straight stiches worked fine.
Now I’m interested in stretch garmets and I chose this machine because of the variety of stretch stitches. I have already used the Stretch Blind Hem stitch to shorten some of my stretchy slacks, and it sews perfectly. I didn’t have to adjust the tension or anything else; i just followed the threading instructions (making SURE to thread in the right direction) and it was a breeze right out of the box.

PROS:
*Variety of stitches
*Variety of STRETCH stitches
*Ease of selecting the stitch (just turning a dial)
*Easy to thread and operate
*Additional foots will come in handy (like the narrow hem foot); additional foots available for purchase too
*Stitches smoothly through everything I have so far…although I’ve not attempted to stitch through multiple layers of denim yet.

CONS:
*As other reviews mentioned, the presser foot lift is made of plastic. I am used to it being directly behind the needle, but in this model it is to the right of the needle, so I need to get used to using my right hand to lift the presser foot lever
*Same as another review about the light - it is to the left of the needle and I’m used to it being to the right.
*It is slightly larger than I expected

OVERALL: I would recommend. I am very happy I bought this machine (and at a very reasonable price). I love the variety of stretch and regular stitches (i’ll be using some decorative stitches on paper for scrapbooking as well!). Sounds smooth when stitching, easy to control the speed of stitching, overall easy to use. 5 stars!

Just the right size although side buttons are small and hard to find when you’re half asleep. The time color/size is good and having a dual alarm is a great feature for 2 people who have different schedules. I also like the graduating alarm tone. Also loved the fact that I didn’t have to set the time to start and that it resets itself after a power outage. Easy to set up and learn about the features. Overall a nice addition.

The clock and alarm function work fine, and relatively easy to do. I like the alarm function as it gets slightly louder the longer it rings until paused or shut off. The size really is Jumbo. My last Emerson was half the size and I think slightly too big. I read the dimensions before hand but just didn’t think it would be that much bigger. My mistake. Otherwise it does it’s job.

Customer Review: First new sewing machine
I’ve had two hand-me-down sewing machines that were very basic. When the last one died I decided to treat myself. I probably won’t do much with the embroidery other than some odds and ends here and there. I typically just do mending and hemming.

Out of the box, I was pleased. Evidently the bobbins are “different” than other bobbins as far as size but I already had a package of the exact same size.

The only trouble I’ve had was using 22 cent WM thread - the tension SOMETIMES wasn’t right. But then, using Coates and Clark at $4 a spool also sometimes the tension was temperamental.

The instructions are comprehensive, the tutorials broadbrush. In the month I’ve had this I’ve sewn two dresses and one quilt, and hemmed a couple pairs of pants. Here are my comments on each:

The dresses were a satin (here I had some trouble with tension on the thin, slippery lining no matter the thread or tension setting) and a georgette (here I just totally botched the dress on my own but it was tricky to sew this very thin, gauzy fabric).

The quilt was a handmade one I’d just finished but I wanted to embroider a poem around the outer border. Some of the letters are a little weird - hard to line it up right but I think it turned out well for the most part. At some points, the machine would stop at the end of each letter, but most of the time it completed the whole word I’d programmed in. The size of the text was very accommodating - you can choose S, M, or L for the text size. My letters were anywhere from 1/2 inch to 2 inches tall.

The hemming of the pants was flawless.

Once you get the “bobbin thread low” message, I can’t figure out how to replace the bobbin (much less fill a new bobbin without losing your place in the embroidery), making a seamless transition from the end of the old thread and the beginning of the new one.

I very much like that I don’t need to worry about the thread pulling out of the needle as the needle descends if the “tail” isn’t long enough, like my older sewing machines. I’ve never had that happen.
Customer Review: Excellent, does what other more expensive machines do.
I already own a brother machine, that one has performed flawlessly so far, but I wanted to upgrade to an embroidery machine. Other similar machines cost twice as much, and frankly, for an amateur seamstress that seemed to much.

I have to say that this machine has surpassed my expectations. It is very easy to use (assuming you have been around a sewing machine before), and even has some accessories I ordered with the machine thinking I would need them (double needle, thread ripper, etc.). No regrets, and I don’t think I’ll need to upgrade any time soon.

Customer Review: Broken after 4 months
After using this product for 4 months, my wife complained that the stiches were losing accuracy, took it into the shop, and it came back worse rather than better. This was only after 4-5 projects. Would not recommend to someone who wants a reliable sewing machine.

Customer Review: A wonderful travel machine
Most of the reviews I’ve read are from people who don’t do a lot of sewing or are just getting back into it. Well I sew all the time and have for the past fifty years. Most of what I do now is quilting and that’s the reason I bought this machine. I wanted a light weight sewing machine that I could take traveling. I’ve been using this machine for the past few days doing some quilting on it and I must say I’m very pleased with it. I think this is a very good purchase price and it’s just what I expected from the Brother Co. I have two other very expensive machines and this one does a fantastic job for the money. JK OF ILLINOIS
