I bought this as a travel clock radio. However, when you go to bed at night you cannot have the radio on if you wish to set the alarm! It has one sliding switch which operates both the radio and alarm. While the radio works okay for such a small item and the alarm seems dependable, it is not that useful if you cannot use both together.

Customer Review: Decent camera, very portable, not great for recording movies
Got this to travel with. Our DSLR is a bit too big to lug around all the time. This is small enough it fits in a pants pocket. So thats great. We don’t mess too much with settings and aren’t very experienced photographers. But our DSLR takes considerably better pictures and lightning fast compared to this sucker. But we expected that. We just wanted something smaller as well as something we could record video of our daughter with. The great thing about recording video is it can be as long as your memory card can fit. The bad thing is the horrible placement of the mic. It is exactly in the spot your finger wants to rest - directly next to the record start/stop button. It’s a ridiculous design and one that’s given us movies with no or extremely muffled sound. We’ve learned to keep our fingers off the mic - both my wife and I had to learn the hard way though. Also when recording video, sometimes you can zoom, sometimes you can’t - no rhyme or reason to it.

Another thing that’s likely unique to ours is a purple spot appeared on the LCD during a trip to Hawaii, right after we bought it. It’s permanent - seven months later it’s still there.

Pros
-Very portable - small, light and fits nicely into a shirt or pants pocket.
-Takes decent pictures, better than most in its class.

Cons
-The worst possible location for the mic.
-Zooming during recording videos usually doesn’t work.
-Slow if you’re comparing it to DSLRs. We miss lots of shots of our fast-moving 3 year old.

Customer Review: The D60: When 10.2 MP Are More Than Enough
I purchased my D-60 as a kit that included not only the camera but also two VR lenses (18-55mm and 55-200mm), gadget bag, 2 instructional DVD’s, Nikon Capture software and a 2 GB San-Disk SD card for a total of $[...]. Having had a D-70s in the past, I found that the “learning curve” with the D-60 is not nearly as steep as some might make you believe.

While considered a mid-level “pro-am” camera, the D-60 takes remarkably clear shots and has the added advantage of allowing the use of almost any Nikon lens available, be it 25 years old or 2.5 months old. After having trailed Canon for a while in the “self-cleaning sensor” department, the D-60 shows Nikon has finally adopted this feature. All I can say is, “It’s about time”. At last, I no longer have to take my camera in for its annual “sensor scrub”. Halleluah!

The D-60 has 2.5MP less resolution than the new D-5000. I started to get one of those, but couldn’t see paying an extra [...] bucks for a lousy 2.5MP resolution gain. I’m not planning on blowing my pictures up to wall size or billboard size so there was no way to justify the extra expense. Besides, the D-60 does everything I want it to. Plus, it allows “in camera” red-eye correction, cropping and some basic editing. You can also switch a photo from color to B&W, Sepia or Cyanotype all inside the camera (though it DOES keep the original color shot when it creates the new “color edited” picture).

The only “complaint” (if you can really call it that) is that the D-60 still does not have the “Full Frame Sensor”. Instead of WYSIWYG, you get 92% of what you see in the viewfinder. While this is not a major issue as long as you’re aware of it, it would have been nice to see Nikon upgrade the D-60 with the same FFS it has in some of its higher end digital SLR’s.
For the price, I can’t beat what I have with a stick! The D-60 is an excellent camera and (in my opinion) the best camera to usae to introduce anyone into the world of digital SLR photography.
Customer Review: all that you need to take great picture
This camera takes amazing pictures. I dont have to be expert. It can take 3 frames per second, but remember that 3 frames are only possible when you dont need to use flash. Charging of the flash takes time between two shots.

Customer Review: Great weather station
As indicated by others, it worked right out of the box. I’m not enamored by the bright blue lights on the side that cannot be turned off. I might cover them up but other than that, it works as advertised. It took less than a minute to sync up with the FM signal but that is probably because I am well within coverage range.

I hope the FM signal continues past 2010. If not, hopefully there will be many users who will send emails asking for the signal to continue.

I purchased the Brother SE-270D as a replacement sewing machine (I had worn out my other one). I wanted to start embroidering and mongraming, but sewing was my main function. I have LOVED playig with this. The only negative I would say is the auto threader, but if you buy the smaller spools it works fine. Mine is missing something that is supposed to allow you to use larger spools, so I have to improvise and it is a REAL PAIN. For a novice embroiderer I would say it is a good starter machine. The hoop size is only 4X4 which can be prohibitive, but for my use it is fine.Since I use it a LOT for clothing, I love the buttonholer and button features and the auto cutter is convenient.If you are mainly going to embroider, I wouldn’t use this one as color changing is time consuming, invest in a multi color machine with a larger base for true embroidery.
Customer Review: Not reccomended, very disappointed.
I bought the Brother SE270D just under a year ago. I wanted to have a sewing machine for everyday projects, curtains, dolls clothes, hemming, mending and to have fun with embroidery. I never got to the embroidery because I never felt confident that it could operate well enough to handle embroidery.
Just plain sewing had tangling thread, fabric bunching, a selected stitch not performing (eg switching from straight to zig zag took a couple more tries before it would change even though the display showed a different stitch selected), awkward bobbin winding ( you have to be very careful with that) and it cannot handle thicker fabrics. I bound some small towels with cotton binding and it could barely manage to sew. The final straw was the auto needle threader failing. I took it to a Brother agent and was told nothing could be done about the auto threader and that in fact the machine has lots of problems and is a “load of crap”. They had one mounted on the wall sectioned to show the inside and she explained that the construction of the machine made it difficult or impossible to repair if things go wrong. I am taking mine back to where I bought it and will get a full refund.
