I’ve been bragging about my humidifier for a while, just love it. However, some of the issues I see others are having seem to come from the fact that this humidifier does seem to have some design issues that can make it hard to use if you’re not techie at all. For example, the terminals on top of the base that contact the switch part of the unit need to stay dry. If you get them wet when cleaning the unit, it won’t turn on until the base dries out. Be careful when cleaning not to get the terminals wet! Also, make sure the unit is sitting on a flat surface, no tilting as this may cause leaking. I suspect that some may be putting their units on floors that are less than flat, causing the leakage. Also, when setting up the unit, set the base on the floor (or wherever you want it) first without water, then put the water reservoir on the unit…no leaking.
As far as cleaning, every week or so, take out the pad and drop it into some white vinegar with a few drops of bleach to disinfect and dissolve any mineral buildup. You can get many uses out of a single pad this way. Clean the unit with the same solution and the reservoir with a little bleach to disinfect that too. Watch those terminals! Keep them dry. When you put the unit back together make sure everything is seated well. If it doesn’t turn on right away you might just need to jiggle the front a bit or press down to re-seat it properly. If you got the terminals wet, let the unit dry out.
With a little care this is a fine unit!

Not Very Durable – – Lasted only a few seasons and became inoperable due to leaks and very poorly designed electronics, very clumsy unit to handle and set up.
Mine started leaking all over the place – Red Soxy – Boston, MA My humidifier worked for a season, then started leaking all over the place. I would not recommend.
One star for one month of great humidifying – Lucky Girl – USA Worked great for about 4 weeks. One day the refill light would not shut off, so I cleaned it, thinking it was about time. Inside, I found that the filter pad had disintegrated to a disgusting brown mush, and the plate had melted one side of the plastic housing, and half the plate was covered by an almost un-removable layer of minerals. We have pretty soft water here, so this is extreme. I suspect the problem is in the wiring or sensors since nothing I do appears to help.
One review I saw somewhere when I was looking for answers said that hers works fine if she rinses the filter pad out once a week. This is supposed to replace that old HMW2030?? That machine could go at least 6-8 weeks without cleaning and never needed a single filter or pad. I have one that is still going strong.
Many reviews I saw complained about the machine breaking after a short time (if only I had read them before buying). I would not recommend the 330 to anyone.
So now what? Honeywell does make a model that is much better: the DWM250. The tank is smaller, but the heating element is solid and positioned from above. It is the same innards as the 3-gallon version which I have used for years, and still use and love. I wish they would make that again, but in the meantime the smaller version does the job for me

water sensor was wrong! – Elana Berger – although cute, not nearly as good as my penguin crane humidifier i bought a few years ago. maybe they changed them a little, but the red light was always on. i had to jiggle the machine to get the green light back. returned it to bed bath where i got it and am now testing out the duck. they didnt have the penguin!
Misleading (not compatible with crane filters) – Tony M. Davis – I bought this for the baby’s room with Crane Demineralization Filter Cartridge. WARNING TO ALL BUYERS!!! – Cory – N/A I purchased this product and it was very cute. I opened my package and got what seemed to be a used product. There was water already in the tank, a large piece of plastic broken from the rim, and no instruction book. If you ask me, that is the definition of used. When I called about my problem, they said I had to return this one first, and then they would send a new one. They wouldn’t do any fast shipping at all to speed up the process, and I was told it might be a few weeks. Sorry but it’s not my fault you gave me a used product! I would not use this seller….very poor service.

Like others said….this is great for a kids room, but we also used it for ours as well. The low setting really isn’t that loud, and the high setting is a great ‘white noise’ maker for kiddos (or hubbies that are used to the sound of a fan during summer months ;p). And while this may not be the greatest humidifier ever, it is kind of a ‘get what you pay for’ scnerio. Ie for us, at least, it was money well spent.

Horrible – humanum777 – Chicago, IL, USA Honeywell 2-gal. Cool Moisture Humidifier is a loud, crudely designed white elephant. I returned it immediately! I got the Crane 2.3 Gallon COOL Mist humidifier, which is wonderfully designed and silent.
Too Loud – Suz Mac – Glasgow, KY United States If you already have to turn the TV up to max to hear, you may not mind the blower on this unit. It overpowers a room. If you need quiet to sleep, do not buy this unit. I withstood the noise for 2 hours, now it is back in the box, out with the next trash pickup. I couldn’t tell you if it humidifies, but it probably does. So if you need it in a room you don’t occupy, you might find it does the job for you.
This humidifier simply does not work. – RKN – USA I love writing reviews of great products. Unfortunately in this case I have to write a clinker. This is a classic example of something that is created to “look” like it should do something, but does nothing. I think the main problem is that the water tray is so undersized that there is never enough water supplied to soak the evaporator pad. As someone else posted (maybe under the Duracraft branded version), the pad gets damp maybe a couple inches up, but otherwise remains dry. As a result the humidifier just doesn’t do anything of any significance. I have a humidistat and have owned Hunter and Duracraft humidifiers in the past that worked, so I am qualified to make this evaluation.
I tried shimming up one end of the unit hoping that it might supply more water to the pad, but that did not help. Maybe the pad they supply is just too robust or is over-treated so that it will not soak up enough water, I don’t know. But, I do know that this unit does not do much of anything but make noise. Even on low it is a louder than it ought to be. I should add that is is in a small bedroom maybe 12 x 10.
I decided to return this and purchase a Vicks model V3100 1.0 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier. Now that model works as you would expect a small room humidifier to work, and on low it just whispers. The Vicks is a much better choice for a small room.

I’m on my second winter with this humidifier and find it in many ways superior to others we have owned in our 43 years together, living in many different parts of the country.
Yes, you can clean it and store it dry offseason; the last one before this I never could get totally dry.
Yes, it’s a nuisance having to plug it in and unplug it, and pay attention to the reservoir level when out of the room.
My biggest problem is that I’ve been looking for a supply of replacement filters, and I’m too sick to go shopping in stores and trying to tell others what I want…
So here I am online looking for replacement filters. What a drag!

humidifier – Rachel M. Jones – Frisco City, AL USA I was looking for a humidifier that put cool mist in the air like on we had had for years and this one does the job perfectly. I was a little worried it would not be just what I needed because it was by vicks but it works great.
works fine for our baby – bobcat – Philadelphia, PA United States simple, cheap. we use white noise to help our baby sleep, so the noise level is fine. humidity is not excessive so the walls stay dry. i wish it had an on/off switch instead of having to unplug it every morning.
Too Loud – Edie E. Johnson – I purchased this product for use in the nursery. It makes a terrible vibration that is very loud. After buying the first unit, it stopped working after about a month. I had emptied the water and let it dry out everyday and cleaned it weekly. The company let me return it with no receipt, so that was no hassle. I believe that they sent me a reconditioned unit which was extremely LOUD with this horrible vibration. We tried everything to get it to stop. It made both me, my son and my husband very grouchy! Finally, it stopped working the other day. I am fed up with it and am throwing it in the trash, Finally!
Terrible Product – College Student – Philly After about a month, it started producing cool-mist that smelled funny, like something bad had rotted in the room. The filters are a nuisance. I think I’m much better off with a steam vaporizer.

After endless reviews of humidifiers, i chose this one. Actually, i was getting quite frustrated and bought this one, feeling like they all stick and nothing is going to make me happy anyways. well, i was wrong. i chose this mid-price model and definitely got my moneys worth. i have been using it less than a month, but am very happy. it holds a gallon, but i use the mid-setting and the gallon lasts me two nights, plus a little extra. i found if i left it on the highest setting, the mist settled on my floor because i keep the room temperature too cold(which i need to sleep!)But even at the highest setting, it is very quiet. it has never leaked either. the only downfall is there is no automatic shut off. but for me, it doesnt matter. even after 2 nights(9-10 hours) there is some water in the reserve so i shut it off when i wake up. great buy in my opinion!

DO NOT BUY! SCARY – Jillian Lee – Both me and my husband got really sick with fever after just one use. The mist has a really stinky smell and it’s not quiet at all. I would give it a zero or negative stars if I could!
CHEMICAL PNUEMONIA- 6 MONTH OLD BABY!!! – Shawn Horner – Salt Lake City, Utah If I could give ZERO stars I without a doubt would! DO NOT BUY this product. I bought this humidifer for my baby with a cold and he spent 5 days in the hospital and is now home on oxygen because he has chemical pnuemonia!! There was so much “WHIT DUST” using this for the first time that you could not see my babies crib!! We followed instructions carefully and were using bottled distilled water. We went to the store we purchased it, got a new one and did an experiment in our basement– THE SAME THING HAPPEND! This happend 7 weeks ago and it has been a night mare…my perfectly healthy baby has undergone CT SCANs, X-rays, bronchioscopes needing general anesthesia, inhalers, prednisone, lasix—- all to try to make him better. Pulmonologist are stumped at what to do. THIS IS A SCARY PRODUCT—-I CALLED THE -1800 number on the box and the women says they will not recall a product over a phone call!!! SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chemical Pneumonia – J. D. Moore – I also posted this review on the product page for this humidifier direct from Amazon.com.
My wife and I bought this humidifier when she was about 8 months pregnant. She badly needed humid air to breath at night, but she couldn’t abide too much noise. We tried three or four humidifiers before we landed on the Vicks Ultrasonic. After following the setup instructions, soaking the filter, and filling the unit with filtered (but not distilled) water, I turned it on about an hour before bedtime. We were pleased with the low-level, broadband hum the unit made and were initially quite pleased. Off we went to sleep.
We awoke about 4 hours later in a room that looked like it was full of smoke. We actually thought the apartment was on fire. A quick check of the place, though, revealed that all of the “smoke” was only in our bedroom. My wife’s voice was rough and gravelly — it was like she had something in her throat that she couldn’t clear. She also had sharp pains in her lungs when she breathed. I had the same symptoms, but less severe, with a “frog in my throat” and pain in my chest only when I breathed deeply.
I evacuated her to the other bedroom and put a wet towel under the door. The fog had swept out of our bedroom and into the remainder of the apartment as soon as we opened the door. It took an hour to vent the apartment by opening every window and cranking the blower on the heat (it was mid-February).
An inspection the next morning quickly revealed that the humidifier was to blame. It and the rest of the room were blanketed in a layer of super-fine “white dust,” with the largest build-up on and immediately around the humidifier. It turns out “white dust” is somewhat common with “ultrasonic” or “ultrasonic impeller” humidifiers (google it). Our doctor prescribed “clean air” and albuterol inhalers to treat what our “chemical pneumonia” (aggravation of the lungs by a chemical agent and not a bacterium). It took two weeks for my wife’s voice and lungs to return to normal.
Needless to say, we have not used this unit since, nor will we ever experiment with an ultrasonic impeller (tip-off: a humidifier that uses a demineralization filter and not a wicking filter) humidifier again.
